GRAMMY®-winning rock band Switchfoot is back with their 14th studio album, “Forever Now,” and a brand-new radio single titled “Beautiful Life.” The bright pop anthem, written by brothers Jon and Tim Foreman, delivers a seamless addition to the group’s rich catalog brimming with hopeful selections.
“‘Beautiful Life’ is a song that attempts to be present to the bittersweet moment that we’re in right here, right now. No matter how much money you have or don’t have, or what dreams or fears you are living out, I feel like there’s always this mixture of day and night, this mixture of joy and pain. I think ‘Beautiful Life’ is an attempt to wrap its arms around that juxtaposition,” frontman Jon Foreman shares. “The beautiful life is not in acquisitions or possessions but in providing your presence to the moment and to the people around you. I hope people hear and feel the call to the ones they love, that they will be reminded about the fact that none of this lasts. No one lasts. The moment we have right now is precious.”
The crux of the song lies in a pivotal line in the chorus: “I don’t have what I want, but I have what I need.” It recognizes our restless search for greener grass and crushes the illusion that we will ever be fully satisfied.
The emotional visual that accompanies the meaningful track is a testament to our collective humanity, boasting a mix of fan-submitted footage and raw film from the band’s storied history, as well as intimate moments with their kids, evoking tears from the bandmates who watched the reel for the first time during the video shoot.
The SoCal natives recently invited country superstar Lainey Wilson to perform “Beautiful Life” with them in Nashville when they made their Grand Ole Opry debut in August.
The band — best known for hits like “Meant To Live” and “Dare You To Move” — explores the fleeting nature of time on their fresh 13-track collection, “Forever Now,” centered around a fictional man who lives out his last day on earth.
Switchfoot is currently headlining a 46-city “Forever Now Tour” in support of the project. With alt-rock favorites Anberlin providing direct support on most dates, the sprawling trek will wrap Nov. 21 in Seattle, Washington.
