Recognized for taking pop hits up the charts, Tauren Wells hasn’t been known as much of a worship writer…until now. With “Let The Church Sing,” the celebrated artist tries his hand at crafting a vertical worship song that bridges the gap between the pop-centric melodies that have defined his career and the pastoral heart he’s now clearly wearing on his sleeve.
The upbeat anthem is one of five fresh tracks inspired by Wells’ latest endeavor — a church plant with his wife, Lorna. Together, the couple launched the Church of Whitestone in Austin, Texas. Since formally opening the doors last year, the burgeoning community of faith has experienced record-breaking attendance and exponential growth.
Wells’ “Let The Church Sing” EP mirrors his desire to give his flock fresh language for worship.

“I’ve always been on staff at a church. However, I’ve never written from the lens of what I would hope our congregations would sing. When we started dreaming about planting our church, it was a major spiritual process and excavation into the heart. These songs are the fruit of that,” Wells says of the unique collection. “When you listen to this project, I want you to walk away thinking about how amazing the church is. I hope that we can re-engage with the wonder and beauty of community and faith. I’m still the same child of God, but with a sharpened focus on what He has called me to do in the world.”
In addition to now pastoring a church, Wells’ calling continues to include music. Additionally, he still hosts his popular podcast, “The High Note,” via AccessMore, and is getting ready to debut his first book, “Joy Bomb: Unleash Jesus’s Explosive Joy for an Extraordinary Life,” out May 20.
The father of four recently garnered three nominations for the 12th annual K-LOVE Fan Awards. For the first time, he’ll vie for Artist of the Year. Moreover, Wells’ is also up for Male Artist of the Year, and his song, “Take It All Back (feat. Davies),” is a contender for Song of the Year.
