Listeners are already buzzing over Brandon Lake latest radio offering, “How Good God Is.” The 11-time K-LOVE Fan Award winner initially started teasing the original selection across his social platforms before performing it for the first time in mid-August at South Bend, Indiana’s Boots on the Bend festival. The track became the first single in history to debut at No. 1 on the Mediabase Christian Impressions chart.

Reminding us how God’s character is often most vividly revealed in disappointment, delay and brokenness, “How Good God Is” begins softly and vulnerably before exploding into a gritty, honest anthem of faith.
“I’m so thankful for every season that taught me to trust God more,” Lake shares of the message behind the song, emphasizing that if not for difficult days and challenging circumstances, we would never get to experience God’s strength and steady presence. “The hardest things in life are always an invitation to a greater level of trust. The older I get, the more I find that our greatest moments of uncertainty lead to a deeper trust in the One who never changes,” he continues. “I hope this song can shift people’s perspective, like it has mine, to a place of thanking God…even for the moments we can’t fix or figure out ourselves but are forced to turn to Him.”

Lake wrote “How Good God Is” with Jonathan Smith, Emily Weisband and Derrick Southerland at a writing camp he hosted earlier this year that introduced some of the Christian community’s finest songwriters to some of the country genre’s brightest talent. He’s already released several selections born from that same camp, including collaborations with Nick Jonas, Lainey Wilson, Bailey Zimmerman and Cody Johnson. Furthermore, Lake has teased additional songs to come with Dan + Shay and Thomas Rhett.
The South Carolina-bred artist also released a live version of the surefire hit, titled “How Good God Is - In The Room!,” which was captured at his recent stop at Mohegan Sun Arena Sept. 13, 2026, in Uncasville, Connecticut.
