Tauren Wells is begging for divine winds of change on his new single, “Breathe On It.” Backed by a choir and an unshakeable foundation of wholehearted belief, Wells offers an authentic prayer, passionately asking God to breathe on the things that are his to steward. Initially, he requests that his stagnant faith be set ablaze. On the second verse, he widens his appeal, pleading with the Lord to send revival to his city, his church and his family.

“This is a prayer before it’s a song,” Wells says. “Tired of the way things have always been? Feel like you are just spinning in circles? Ask God to breathe on your life. Invite Him into your day, your plans, your thoughts and then go!”

Wells wrote the anthemic original with Colby Wedgeworth and Jonathan Gamble. “Breathe On It” follows a long line of congregational-friendly selections the chart-topping artist has recently released, inspired by his new role as senior pastor at Church of Whitestone, the church he and his wife, Lorna, founded in Austin, Texas. Across a crescendoing chorus, he sings:

Breathe on it
Holy Spirit, breathe on it
God, I need an Acts 2 rushing wind
Something’s gotta come alive again

Every time You breathe on it
I can feel Your fire falling
Ain’t no shackle You’re not breaking loose
Anything can change when You breathe on it

When he’s not preaching on Sunday mornings, the father of four is still burning up the roads. This spring, he’s headlining his own “Take It All Back Tour,” titled after his most recent No. 1. Additionally, he’s supporting Phil Wickham on select dates of the “Song Of The Saints Tour.”
