I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39 NLT
The Andrew Ripp song, “For the Love of God”, encourages us to explore the limitless love of our heavenly Father and serves as a reminder that we would all be lost without His affection toward you and me. Ripp asks this question:
Where would I be, where would I be If it wasn’t for the love of God?
Adoptive parents understand this kind of love as they rush to the agency after receiving the call they’ve longed for, their hearts filled with excitement and nervous anticipation. As they hold the tiny bundle of joy in their arms, they know they are witnesses to a miracle—a gift from God. In that moment, all the years of waiting and uncertainty fade away, replaced by an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude. Where would this child be, what would their life look like if it were not for love?
We all desire this kind of love and acceptance from the bottom of our hearts. We want to know an unchanging, profound love that is capable of mending all wounds and emptiness.
Mercy seated where the judge should be
According to the apostle Paul, “Nothing in creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This truth serves as the cornerstone of our faith. It is a love that reaches into the depths of our brokenness, transforming us and making us whole.
We are reminded of the sacrifice made on our behalf when we hear the lyrics to this song. They urge us to consider the depth of God’s love as it was shown through Christ’s suffering and resurrection, drawing us closer to His heart. It is through this selfless act that we can fully comprehend the depths of God’s love for us.
How could it be I didn’t get the life I deserved
These lyrics challenge us to let go of our doubts, fears, and insecurities by reminding us that God’s love is stronger than any struggle we might face. It gives us comfort to know that His love will never waver despite how we might feel.
And the One I thought I chose had really chosen me first?
This line inspires us to approach our Heavenly Father with open hearts, prepared to receive His love and grace. We are reminded that His love is freely offered to everyone who seeks Him because He chose us first.
If it wasn’t for my failures and mistake, I would never know the depths of this grace
We can find comfort and hope in the knowledge that we are loved beyond measure. Even in the face of life’s trials and difficulties, His love is able to take us to new heights and carry us through the deepest valleys.
Let’s immerse ourselves in God’s love soaking the warmth of His heart and allowing it to permeate every cell in our bodies. I pray that this song may serve as a reminder of the unwavering love that is waiting for you and encourage you to live each day in the presence of His love.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unconditional love for me. Please make it possible for me to fully understand and experience Your love. Fill me with Your love so that I can overflow with compassion and show others Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
