Maverick City Music, Chris Tomlin, Anne Wilson & More of Your Favorite Christian Artists Are Nominated for GRAMMY® Awards This Year

2023 Grammy Nominees Announced

Nominations for the 65th annual GRAMMY® Awards were announced Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2022). Maverick City Music leads this year’s Christian/Gospel nominations with a nod in each of the genre’s four categories. The collective won their first GRAMMY® last year, alongside Elevation Worship, for their acclaimed collaborative album, “Old Church Basement.”

Chris Tomlin earned his 14th and 15th GRAMMY® nominations as his new record, “Always,” was honored in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category and his original track, “Holy Forever,” earned a spot among the contenders for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

Meanwhile, Phil Wickham received the first GRAMMY® nomination of his already storied career. The chart-topping title-cut of his Dove Award-winning album, “Hymn of Heaven,” will vie for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song. Furthermore, he’s a credited co-writer on Tomlin’s aforementioned “Holy Forever.”

“You guys! What in the world?! I just found out that my song, ‘Hymn of Heaven’ was nominated for a GRAMMY®! This is my first nomination ever, and I am floored and shaken. God’s grace is just too much,” Wickham shared on his social platforms following the news. “Thanks to everyone who has listened and worshiped along with us as we’ve sung about our great hope in Jesus.”

Anne Wilson, also a first-time nominee, watched her name and her debut record, “My Jesus,” appear among the honorees for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

Additionally, seven-time GRAMMY® winner TobyMac was nominated for his latest collection, “Life After Death.” Already four-time GRAMMY® winners, for KING & COUNTRY racked up another nomination for the duo’s latest version of “For God Is With Us,” which features Lady A’s Hillary Scott. Crowder received his fourth nomination as a solo artist for his new radio single, “God Really Loves Us (feat. Maverick City Music),” and Elevation Worship earned their sixth nod for their album, “LION.” A full list of all Christian/Gospel winners is below.

The 65th annual GRAMMY® Awards will air on CBS Feb. 5, 2023, live from the Arena in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. PT.
