Brandon Lake attempts to tally the sum of God’s blessings on his fiery new single, “Count ‘Em.” The blazing selection became an immediate fan favorite when it released ahead of Lake’s third studio effort, “Coat of Many Colors,” on which it appears as the second track. A bold contrast to Lake’s meaningful, slow burn anthems like “Gratitude,” “Too Good To Not Believe” and “Miracle Child,” “Count ‘Em” surprised listeners with its brash blend of pop, rock and hip-hop.
While it might have initially felt like a departure for the singer/songwriter, in reality, “Count ‘Em” proved Lake defies genre categorization as he fearlessly pushes boundaries in every sonic direction possible.
“‘Count Em’ is my bragging-on-God song!” Lake remarks. “There’s so much I could say about who He is and all the things He’s done — truly, I couldn’t count ‘em if I tried. But this song lists quite a few bullet points on His résumé, if you will. Proud of this song. Proud of these lyrics.”
The burgeoning hitmaker gave a spitfire performance of “Count ‘Em” at the 2024 K-LOVE Fan Awards, which he co-hosted for the first time alongside author, speaker and podcaster Sadie Robertson Huff. In addition, the father of three also notched his 4th and 5th K-LOVE Fan Award trophies, earning honors for both Male Artist of the Year and Worship Song of the Year on the strength of “Praise You Anywhere.”
Lake further ignites a red-hot version of “Count ‘Em” on his recently released project, “Tear Off The Roof (Live From The Holy City),” recorded in his hometown of Charleston, S.C. In August, he’ll reprise his popular “Summer Worship Nights” tour with Phil Wickham before launching the fall leg of his headlining “Tear Off The Roof Tour.”
