Chart-topping singer-songwriter Andrew Ripp and indie folk artist Jervis Campbell join forces for original anthem “Hold Me Up.” The pair wrote the rugged summertime track with longtime Ripp collaborator Ethan Hulse.

With a melody that’s as smoky as the campfire featured on the single’s artwork, “Hold Me Up” leans into a deep, rootsy, Americana-flavored sound that’s rounded out by Ripp’s tenor and Campbell’s rough-hewn baritone. The song speaks to relying on God’s strength in our weakness as the men plead:

Pull the water from this heart of stone
Quench me like a river does a desert soil
Heaven, won’t you help me?
Heaven, won’t you help me while I’m here below?

Lord, I’m nothin’ but a desperate soul
Need You like a fire in the freezing cold
Heaven, won’t you help me?
Heaven, won’t you help me while I’m here below?

Ripp and Campbell have been surprised by the initial response to their new collaboration. “Songs have a way of finding the people who need them,” Ripp observes. “A few weeks ago, my friend, Jervis Campbell, and I released a tune called ‘Hold Me Up,’ and we’re grateful for every stream, message and story you’ve shared with us.”

“Hold Me Up” arrives as part of a series of fresh selections Ripp has released following his latest LP, “The Mercy Room.” The “I’d Do It Again” singer will support We Are Messengers on the group’s “Halfway Home Tour” this fall. Furthermore, he’ll return to his hometown Aug. 16 for “K-LOVE Live in Chicago,” a K-LOVE Landmarks tour stop also set to feature CeCe Winans and Jeremy Camp.

Meanwhile, Campbell — a North Carolina native who honed his skills playing in a Campus Crusade for Christ band during college — co-headlined select dates of last fall’s “Campus Nights” outing. Starting this September, the emerging talent will helm his own “Good Grief Tour” in support of his third studio effort.
