Colton Dixon is serving up a remedy for anxiety on his new song, “The Love I Have For You.” Based on the title and the cover art, which depicts a sketch of dainty flowers blooming from a heart, one might assume Dixon’s latest single is an emotional ballad — perhaps written for his wife or his twin daughters. Instead, the “American Idol” alum delivers a plot twist with a moody, upbeat anthem about God’s unmatched love for us, as His children.

Frayed and untethered, Dixon finds himself desperate and depleted as he confesses to relying on his own strength across some dark verses that reveal the “Miracles” singer deploying lyrics in rapid-fire succession. Exhausted and out of options, he goes to the Lord for the reassurance he needs in that moment: You are deeply loved. I will fight for you. Your story isn’t over.
These are reminders we all need sung over us on repeat, and Dixon’s “The Love I Have For You” does just that, as its infectious chorus can’t help but get stuck in your head.

“The last few years have been incredible, however, I was really running on fumes a few times when I was trying to balance work, life, family and everything in between. I prayed, ‘God, help me here, because I don’t know how much longer I can do this.’ I can get into striving mode as a creative, and it trickles into other areas of my life. Resting in the fact I’m loved by the Creator of the universe is special, though. The song reminds me, with God’s love, there’s nothing I can’t tackle,” Dixon says. “I wrote [this song] for anyone who feels like they’re running on empty or like the weight is just too heavy. God loves you, and with Him, you are able to overcome anything that life throws at you.”
“The Love I Have For You” is sure to be a highlight of Dixon’s electric live set on this fall’s “Ignite Tour,” which is also slated to feature Danny Gokey and Mac Powell, along with special guest Ryan Ellis.
