Newcomer Emerson Day puts the devil on blast across her fiery radio debut, “Get Behind Me.” Helmed by electric guitar, a hint of country flavor and a major dose of attitude, the single introduces the Maryland native as a sassy firecracker.

While Day sets the song ablaze with a raspy vocal and an undeniable rock vibe, it was her grandmother who actually inspired the original track. As a child, any time she would be fearful or anxious, she recalls her grandmother always reassuring her that those thoughts and feelings didn’t come from her Heavenly Father; they were coming from the enemy. Now, Day is sharing the same message with the world on Christian radio.

“I hope this song would allow you to feel the power of the Lord and take back ground against the enemy,” she says. “I pray that this would become a fight song for you in your walk; that through this song, you would know and feel the power and authority of our God.”

After releasing the recording with her vocal alone, Day dropped a second version with four-time K-LOVE Fan Award winner Zach Williams. While “Get Behind Me” serves as her official introduction to K-LOVE listeners, the freshly signed songstress previously collaborated with labelmate Micah Tyler on his single, “People Like Us.”

Prior to pursuing music full-time, the former lacrosse player earned a degree in Homeland Security, poised for a long career in federal law enforcement. Eventually, however, her love of music slowly evolved into a God-ordained calling after she witnessed someone give their life to Jesus when she was leading worship at a small church in North Carolina.

The handful of songs she’s released so far fuse country, rock and singer-songwriter elements to give Day a distinct sound further highlighted by her gritty voice and hard-hitting lyrics.
