New Song Feature: "Crazy About You" Tauren Wells

When Tauren Wells sat down with co-writers Ethan Hulse and Bernie Herms to craft contenders for 2022’s “Joy in the Morning,” the three men started talking about the dynamics of an obsession. That conversation resulted in “Crazy About You,” a song about the way God feels about every single one of His children.

The unconditional, sacrificial love of God is a crazy, mind-blowing kind of affection to comprehend. Yet, that love is real and available to each of us right here, right now. And that’s exactly what Wells, Hulse and Herms attempted to put into words. In retrospect, they brilliantly break the Gospel down in just over three minutes.

If you’re having trouble fathoming how God could possibly be crazy about you, Wells invites you to simply press play on his new single. “Maybe for the first time you’re hearing that God totally, fully, wholly, and perfectly loves you — not a future version of you, not you dressed up in your Sunday best, not the you that you want everyone to think you are — just you… He’s loved you in every season of your life up to this point, and He always will,” Wells says. “If you’re not where you want to be in life yet, if you’ve struggled to make ends meet, if you haven’t thought much about goals and bottom-lines, then — you guessed it — He still loves you. In fact, He’s crazy about you!”

The “Fake It” singer recently shared the powerful selection live on stage at the 54th Annual GMA Dove Awards, which he hosted for the first time this fall. The 10-time GRAMMY® nominee, who also previously co-hosted the K-LOVE Fan Awards, will be joining Katy Nichole and Jordan Smith on the “This Is Jesus Christmas Worship Tour” in half a dozen cities this December. In the meantime, he and his wife, Lorna, are in the process of moving their family to Austin, Texas, where the couple is launching a new church. The Church of Whitestone is set to hold their first official service in late January 2024. (And don’t worry, even while he’s pastoring, Wells will still be writing, recording and touring.)
