When Jon Reddick penned his latest single, “Holding On (Praise God),” with songwriting aces Matthew West and Jeff Pardo, he meant it as an offering of surrender. What he didn’t anticipate is how soon he’d have to walk out the lyrics of his own song.

A few days before Reddick was scheduled to shoot a music video for “Holding On (Praise God),” his younger brother unexpectedly passed away following a sudden medical emergency. The singer-songwriter clasps his brother’s dog tags in the final compelling visual that accompanies the track. The experience of losing his younger sibling forced Reddick to hand his grief and pain over to a God who is strong enough to hold it all.

“I believe God can redeem every story, even the hard ones to carry,” he says of the ultimate message behind the song and its complimentary video. “When you’re tired, He is still your strength. When you’re overwhelmed, He is still your help. When you feel like you’re barely holding on, He is holding on to you.”

The cinematic clip brings the gospel-tinged “Holding On (Praise God)” to life through a series of montages that finds Reddick stacking stones in remembrance, mourning beneath the wooden beams of an old church, wandering through the woods and fighting a wet, fiery moment of surrender.

“This song is a reminder to lay down the burdens you were never meant to carry and trust the One who has been holding you all along,” Reddick shares of the selection that premiered as a K-LOVE First. “My prayer is that it points you back to where your strength and help truly come from.”

Last month, Reddick led this year’s Worship in the Round on Saturday morning of the 2026 K-LOVE Fan Awards Weekend. This fall, he’ll join CAIN on select dates of the trio’s “Live and In Worship Tour.”
