The lyrics of “Fear Is Not My Future” — penned by Lake, Hannah Shackelford, Jonathan Jay and Nicole Hannel — look toward a horizon that’s fueled by breakthrough as the group proclaims:

Fear is not my future

You are, You are (You are)

Sickness is not my story

You are, You are (You are)

Heartbreak’s not my home

You are, You are (You are)

Death is not the end

You are, You are (You are)

“What a declaration and an amazing thing to sing: ‘Fear is not my future… Sickness is not my story,’” offers Lake, who also serves up a studio recording of the selection on his latest LP, “HELP!” “There’s so many things in our life that we’re like, ‘This is what I’ve been given, and I have to deal with it.’ I felt like this would be a powerful opportunity to break that agreement and say, ‘No. Goodbye fear, goodbye pain, goodbye to the grave that you feel like you’re standing in.’ Let’s do the opposite, and let’s [say], ‘Hello peace, hello joy, hello love.’”

The live version of the vision-filled track was captured at Emmanuel AME Church, where a mass shooting took place in 2015 in Charleston, S.C. — the hometown both Moore and Lake share.

The multi-artist collective is fresh off 2022’s colossal “Kingdom Tour,” which visited packed arenas across the country. Currently, Moore is in the process of crafting a highly anticipated solo offering, while Lake — who is also working on new music — is set to co-headline the “Summer Worship Nights” tour with Phil Wickham this summer.
