Micah Tyler admits to being a perfectionist on his new song, “Perfectly.” Set to a ’50s-style doo-wop sway, the bluesy retro cut reminds listeners we can cease our striving. We might not be perfect, but we know the One who is; and through Him, we are perfectly known and perfectly loved.

“I used to think I had to get it all right to be worth something… But God doesn’t love a future, ‘better’ version of me; He loves me right here, right now. Not because I’m perfect, but because He is,” Tyler reasons. “‘Perfectly’ is a reminder that His love doesn’t waver with my mistakes. It stays steady, it stays faithful, and it never lets go.”

Tyler’s new single is a bop with a universal message that’s quickly resonated with fans, but the song’s official music video might just outshine its future-hit sheen. The former youth pastor puts his signature wit on full display across a humorous visual that finds him road testing four different ideas for his music video shoot at the advice of a panel of celebrity directors: retired NFL quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, pastor and author Jonathan Pokluda, fellow Christian chart-topper Danny Gokey and ’90s TV icon Candace Cameron Bure.

I give You failures, and You give me grace. All of my problems don’t push You away,” Tyler sings as he tries on the personas of a cowboy, an influencer, a crooner and an ’80s rocker at the direction of his guest creative managers. “And somehow You love somebody like me. Don’t know how You do it, but You do it perfectly.”

“Perfectly” previews Tyler’s next project, the follow-up to 2023’s “People Like Us” EP. The father of three recently wrapped a run of headlining shows where concertgoers had the opportunity to hear the song live for the first time.
