After spending nine weeks at No. 1 with his first chart-topper, “Where Would I Be,” newcomer Peter Burton returns with “So Long.” Burton wrote his follow-up radio single with Matthew West and AJ Pruis. The acoustic-grounded anthem affirms our mistakes, our past and our feelings don’t define us. As someone who struggles with mental health, Burton maintains he’s no longer buying the lies the enemy is selling. Instead, he’s proclaiming the cross has the final say.

“Shame has a way of convincing us that we’ll never move past our mistakes. But that’s not what God says. I wrote ‘So Long’ as a reminder that guilt, shame and yesterday don’t have the final word. Jesus does,” Burton shares. “If you’re leaving shame, guilt or yesterday behind… Consider this your anthem. It’s time to say so long.”
Carried by a driving hook, Burton waves goodbye to everything that holds him back from the life God has for him across a massive chorus tailor-made for a singalong as he declares:

The California native performed an acoustic version of the fresh original at the Emerging Artist Showcase during this year’s K-LOVE Fan Awards Weekend ahead of the 2026 K-LOVE Fan Awards where he walked the red carpet as a first-time nominee thanks to a Breakout Single of the Year nod for “Where Would I Be.”
The father of two will join Matthew West on the award-winning songwriter’s “Jesus Is King” West Coast run this fall before supporting Anne Wilson’s “Stars Tour” into November.
Burton is a former member of Thrive Worship, who also spent years touring and collaborating with “Made New” singer Lincoln Brewster, before recently pursuing a solo career.
