K-LOVE New Song Feature: "Never" Tasha Layton

Tasha Layton is leaning on the truth of Deuteronomy 3:16 for her brand new single, “Never.” “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you,” the well-known verse reads. “Never” cements that promise.

Reunited with the same team of co-writers who helped her craft her No. 1 smash, “How Far,” Layton penned the impactful pop selection with Matthew West, AJ Pruis and her husband, Keith Everette Smith, who also produced the uplifting track.

“When our tears and knees both hit the ground and we’re feeling the weight of life, sometimes we’re tempted to think God has forgotten us. Has He forgotten the desire of my heart? ‘God, I see You working in other people’s lives, but what about mine?’” Layton says of the message behind the release. “My prayer is that this song serves as a reminder that you are never forgotten, never forsaken and never abandoned. That God is close to you in this exact moment. That whatever you are going through will never be wasted.”

The two-time chart-topper knows this to be true in her own life. She shares her personal testimony in “Look What You’ve Done: The Lies We Believe and the Truth That Sets Us Free,” her first book. Part memoir, part devotional, Layton’s debut K-LOVE Books title takes readers on a journey from her humble beginnings growing up in a trailer park in South Carolina and then dabbling in an assortment of world religions to touring the globe as a background vocalist for Katy Perry and eventually rediscovering her own voice as a rising solo artist in Christian music.

Having already shared the stage with respected acts like TobyMac, Crowder, Jon Reddick and Danny Gokey, among others, Layton is expected to reveal her fall touring plans soon. In the meantime, “Never” leads Layton’s forthcoming sophomore album, her highly anticipated follow-up to 2022’s “How Far.”
