Following in the footsteps of his latest No. 1, “Heaven On My Mind,” TobyMac serves up a sugary reminder of God’s love on “Lord It Feels Good.” The consistent hitmaker wrote the light, head-in-the-clouds ray of sunshine with songwriters Benji Cowart and Kyle Williams.

Celebrating an unconditional love that can’t be earned, “Lord It Feels Good” is TobyMac’s most recent radio contender from 2025’s “Heaven On My Mind,” an album crafted in the aftermath of losing his oldest son, Truett. Following a season of intense personal grief for the husband and father of five, the song feels like a shot of hope with its carefree melody and easy chorus — a redemptive contrast to the real-life events that shaped the song and the full-length collection as a whole.
“‘Lord It Feels Good’ was written about the sweet love of God — the only footing I’ve found walking the valley of devastation. We all have our valleys, every one of us, but there is something about simply remembering that God really loves us and is intimately aware of the road we walk. It lifts our eyes to where our help comes from…The unwavering love of God can renew us and can take us from crawling to walking to standing upright,” Toby shares of the message behind the track. “Our friend, Kristi McLelland, once said, ‘We glance at God and stare at ourselves, versus the opposite.’ When I stop and stare at Him, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks: ‘Lord, it feels good to be loved by You.’”
